Chief Obioma Success Akagburuonye (JP) was born on February 22, 1966, into the family of Late Nehemiah Akagburuonye Amuchie of Umuoshike Ogbor Uvuru, Aboh Mbaise L.G.A, Imo State. His journey to success is marked by resilience and divine grace. Supported by his parents, he completed his primary education at Town School Ogbor (1974-1980) and secondary education at Oke-Ovoro Secondary School, Uvuru Aboh Mbaise L.G.A, and Government Secondary School Ihugh, Vandeikiya L.G.A, Benue State. He holds a BSc and MSc in Civil Engineering, as well as LLB, BL, and LLM in Law.

Contributions to Society

  1. Telecommunications Pioneer: In August 2001, he introduced telephone services to Mbaise, inaugurated by then Hon. Minister for Communication, Engr. Mohammed Lawal.
  2. Youth Empowerment: He has initiated numerous programs aimed at empowering talented youth.
  3. Believers of the Gospel Welfare Foundation: Founded in 2001, it was inaugurated by then Hon. Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Senator Godwin Kanu Agabi.
  4. Akaraugo Football Competition: Organized annually to promote sportsmanship and community spirit.
  5. Bro Success Bible Quiz and Choral Competition: Aimed at teenagers, offering scholarships to winners.
  6. Prison Decongestion: Through the landmark case Engr. Success Obioma vs. Federal Republic of Nigeria on bail (13 WRN 2005), he successfully challenged stringent bail conditions, setting a precedent that has been used to free many awaiting trial.
  7. Relief Centre for Unemployed Graduates: As CEO, he facilitated training and employment for graduates from across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
  8. Detribalized Employer: Known for his inclusive hiring practices.
  9. Active Legal Practitioner: A member of the Nigerian Bar Association, Unity Bar Abuja.

  • Centre for Divine Surprises: Built in Ogbor Uvuru Mbaise, inaugurated by Rev Dr. Charles Osueke in 2008.
  • Legal Victories for Igbo Community: Successfully reclaimed properties for the Igbos in Abuja after a 16-year legal battle.
  • Mbaise Reconciliation and Prophecy Fulfillment: Worked with the United Covenant of Mbaise Christians (UCMC) to reconcile Mbaise people back to God, leading to the fulfillment of the prophecy by Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai on the 9th of March, 2019.
  • Political Leadership: Served as the flag bearer (ADP) in the last Imo State Gubernatorial Election.

Chief Obioma Success Akagburuonye is happily married to Lady Cecilia Crown Obioma Amuchie, a successful civil servant in the Directorate cadre of the OMBUDSMAN, NASS. They are blessed with four wonderful children.
